AHIPARA WHAREUKU PROJECT PRESENTATION
On behalf of the Ahipara whareuku project in conjunction with the University of Auckland and Te Puni Kokiri, the Unaiki Mare Whanau Trust would like to invite you to a hui about alternative options for building papakianga on whenua tupuna for whanau and hapu.
A rare opportunity to hear presentations from Rau Hoskins, Director of Design Tribe Architects and Dr Kepa Morgan, Associate Dean of the Civil Engineering Department for the University of Auckland will be of definite value.
They will be discussing, amongst other issues:
- Papakainga construction technologies - including Uku
- Papakainga infrastructure technologies / alternative systems
- Papakainga design principles - moving beyond the box
- Papakainga funding mechanisms including Kainga Whenua scheme
A full presentation about the Ahipara whareuku project will be given by Ahipara Project coordinators Heeni Hoterene and Rueben Taipari Porter. Rueben and Heeni are local kaitiaki whenua and strong advocates for sustainable maori independence. They will share korero on:
- Project experiences
- Project planning
- Financials and logistics
- Working with maori land shareholders
- Relationships with local councils
- Building papakainga under Tikanga maori
- Improvements on Logistics
There are only 40 positions available for this hui so notification of participation and registration per representative is required. Financial support of this hui is welcome.
